My NYC - Summer 2021 - Part II:

For our first road trip, we head north to the small village of Cold Spring, NY situated alongside the Hudson River. Aside from art galleries, boutiques and eateries, there is an abundance of picturesque Hudson Valley views to take in.

We paid a visit to Croton Dam in Croton Gorge Park to take in the stunning waterfall before heading out on a hike. You might be surprised to discover how much great hiking the state of New York can provide.

Next stop we head east to Greenport, NY. August is a great time to visit and take advantage of the sunflower fields in full bloom. Pictured below is Northfork Sunflower Maze. Clearly, the bees love them as well!

When in the North Fork, wine tastings are a must. One of the cutest and photographic wineries out there is Croteaux Vineyards. The only U.S. vineyard dedicated exclusively to Rose wine. We then headed into the town of Greenport for some shopping and lunch. Before wrapping up the day, we stopped at 67 Steps Beach to unwind and appreciate the beauty of the Long Island Sound. Stick around for sunset to make it truly memorable.

Last stop, about a 2.5-hour drive from NYC, we find ourselves in the town of Narrowsburg, NY. Narrowsburg sits on the upper Delaware River in the foothills of the Catskills. With a simple walk or drive over a bridge, you are in Pennsylvania.

We took the opportunity to stay in the newly opened Hotel Darby which technically sits on the Pennsylvania side. Hotel Darby delivers a motel vibe with a vintage touch and mid-century modern decor. The owners of Hotel Darby also own other properties such as North Branch Inn and Kenoza Hall which I will be sure to book a stay at during my next visit. There are also plenty of other cute surrounding towns to visit in this area. I’ve never really been much of a “bird watcher” but this area definitely makes it intriguing.

Dinner on a porch? Yes please, at North Branch Inn.

Hotel Darby…. my little travel consultant tip of the day - take advantage of NEW hotel openings when everything is fresh and new.
