My Love Letter to Colorado.

Yes, it’s possible to love more than one……STATE! We still LOVE you New York but this is my love letter to Colorado.

One year ago today, my husband and I made the scary yet exhilarating decision to leave our home state of New York and move cross country to Denver, CO. We considered a move for years and finally landed on Denver. Denver checked off some important boxes. To still reside in a city, live close to the mountains, have all four seasons with the bonus of 300 days of sunshine (or 245 depending on which Google page you land on), and also less expensive than NY (slightly).

Unaware of what awaited on the other side of the unknown and having only visited Colorado three times previously, I am happy to report it was one of the best decisions we have made. It’s something I always wanted to do in my 20’s but, truth be told, that experience would have looked a lot different and I am happy with how it all unfolded. So for those of you considering making a major change or move, I say go for it!

Denver gave us such a warm welcome. Starting with the random Lyft driver to the grocery store clerk to our new neighbors (now friends). We began embracing things we wouldn’t even have considered in New York once upon a time. Something changed for us not only location-wise but internally. We are now headed into our second year and can’t believe how quickly time has passed and how much we managed to experience.

Living in the moment, feeling gratefulness in my heart, a sense of accomplishment in my soul, and continued curiosity… Allow me to share with you a glimpse of my year via, you guessed it, my photography!

Hiking Adventures

Out and About in Denver: Farmers Market, Denver Botanic Gardens, Washington Park, Vintage Shops, Museums, Outdoor Art, Brunching.

Eating our way through CO: Coffee & Cocktail Lounges, Speakeasies & Hidden Bars, Fine & Casual Dining (anything goes) & of course stylish Hospitality Decor remain center stage at the establishments we have discovered (so far). The occasional Picnic in the Park… Plenty of options to please your palate in Colorado. Food blog posts coming soon.

PIZZA: Of course the New Yorker in us had to start the search for the perfect pizza! The hunt continues… Until then, I can say that Joy Hill Denver is the top contender at this time. It’s not a “NY Slice” spot but it’s brick oven deliciousness. 1. Redeemer Pizza (no photo of slice but definitely wins coolest entrance) 2. Cart Driver (Clam Pie) 3. Benny Blancos 4. Joy Hill Denver.

That Denver SUN RISING & SETTING has been a constant HIGHlight of my day.

Special Restaurants for Special Occasions: A Happy Birthday at Wolf’s Tailor.

Happy Anniversary: A huge thanks to our dear friends from home for this awesome going away gift. An amazing dinner at Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder, Colorado.

Colorado FALL

Colorado WINTER: Never did I ever… think I would learn to ski in my 50’s, yet here we are! Such an amazing feeling. So far I’ve hit, Loveland, Vail and, Keystone.

Colorado CHRISTMAS: Christmas in Vail at The Hythe, Denver Botanic Gardens Light Show & our first Colorado Christmas tree with our custom ornament front and center; sold in our Etsy shop - LunaSol Design Studio(plug, plug);-)
