Mexico City - 2019 PT I

Mexico City, PT I - This trip started off in style courtesy of Aeromexico on their Dreamliner aircraft and, for our return home, in the comforts of Delta Airlines. The best of both worlds! No better way to enter the zen zone before a flight than taking advantage of the Delta Sky Club Lounge. On a nice day, be sure to take advantage of their outside terrace. Also, if you arrive early enough, check out the dedicated spa area. Cool perk….you can use miles to pay for services!

Upon arrival, we were transported to the luxurious Fours Seasons Hotel which is a 30-45 minute drive from Benito Juarez International Airport. The hotel is within walking distance to some great neighborhoods such as Condesa, Roma & Polanco and much more. Of course, as with every Four Seasons Hotel, the attention to detail appears throughout this hacienda-style hotel starting with the beautiful flower arrangements as you enter the lobby. As you stroll down the walkway towards the magical courtyard, you pass seating areas on either side and a small bakery called Pan Dulce where you can pick up some tasty pastries and coffee. Their Zandaya restaurant serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner providing that authentic Mexican vibe with dishes to match. This hotel is referred to as an ‘Urban Oasis’ and now I know why. If you’re looking for luxury accommodations while in Mexico City, you will find it here.

Presidential Suite, located on the top floor with grand windows overlooking Paseo De La Reforma. The decor lends to a more modern feel with Mexican accents & this one-bedroom suite has the option of connecting rooms which can accommodate up to three bedrooms.

I must admit, during my travels, I try my best not to eat at the hotel most of the time simply because I love to experience and support more of the local and authentic establishments. I love a good street food stall as well! With that being said, it would be a shame to stay here and not enjoy a meal at one of their restaurants. The pictures below speak for themselves. You can expect exceptional food and presentation alongside decor that captures your attention. It makes for a perfect dining experience in my opinion. Pictured below, their Italian dining option, Il Becco

….how about an evening experience in the courtyard that sparkles at night? You can disappear into secluded seating areas surrounded by lush foliage while eating and imbibing on tasty one of a kind cocktails. “Our Little Secret”…not anymore apparently! Also worth a visit, Fifty Mils, their gastrobar which has made its way onto “The World’s 50 Best Bars” list.

It wouldn’t be a Solbrilla post without some “FOOD PIX”…. Pictured below are just a few of the many dishes served up for lunch at Los Limosneros restaurant. One of my many first experiences on this trip included trying crickets and grasshoppers. It’s a popular addition to many dishes here so I just went for it. While in Mexico you have to order the Tortilla Soup at least once right? Here it was served up in a cool deconstructed version.

Strolling the STREETS of Mexico City…. #postthepeople, #streetart

Post the PEOPLE…. and be sure to try the traditional sweet & savory specialties as well.

I am a sucker for a MARKET during my travels but I’ve never stumbled upon one dedicated strictly to BOOKS. You can spend hours here…..

I loved the ENERGY felt during our historic walking tour…. #blessings
