San Miguel De Allende, Mexico 2011

Walking is the best way to get around and discover.

San Miguel De Allende, a trip that opened up my eyes to how much more there is to experience in Mexico besides beautiful beaches and great weather!

We flew into Queretaro airport and drove1 hour to San Miguel De Allende.  It's a charming city in Central Mexico engulfed in colorful colonial buildings with plenty of history.  During our stay, we split our time between Casa De Sierra Nevada and Rosewood San Miguel (which had just opened in 2011). While we enjoyed our stay at both properties, they each provided something different.  As I mentioned above, Rosewood just opened so everything was new, double the amount of rooms & suites and more modern, while still incorporating the feel of the city in the decor.  Casa De Sierra Nevada, also a luxury hotel, has more of that authentic old world feel and is centrally located to many of the must-see sites.  At the end of the day it depends on the preference of the traveler.  Click on the links above for more details.

Pictured below are some memories of walking along the cobblestone streets (bring comfy walking shoes).  Enjoy the views of La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel from a distance and up close.  Take advantage of the many Art galleries & Shopping. I couldn't leave without one (or two;-) of the light fixtures.  Make sure you visit one of the many Rooftop spots where you can grab a bite while taking in stunning views of the city.

Casa De Sierra Nevada has a cooking school called "Sazon".  It was my first time taking a cooking class while on vacation and I couldn't have picked a better location.  The food we made was scrumptious...

The striking Doors and Windows capture the essence of this city!
