Marrakech, Morocco 2014

1.  A trip to the High Atlas Mountains and tea at the home of a Berber family.  This experience is definitely up there on my list of "unforgettable moments".

* A visit to Kasbah Tamadot, Richard Branson's hotel in the Atlas Mountains.  An exquisite property where attention to detail is taken seriously.

2.  Jardin Majorelle... click on link.  The colorful yet serene garden designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle and eventually purchased by Yves Saint Laurent & Pierre Berge.  After the passing of Yves Saint Laurent, a memorial was built in the garden where his ashes were spread as well.

3.  The Jemaa el-Fnaa square...click on link.   Located in the main medina quarter and known as "the heart of the city".  Here you will find shopping in the souks, plenty of food stalls and entertainers.  Nighttime becomes quite the scene complete with fortune tellers, henna artists, snake charmers and more...

*There are also local markets that travel from village to village.  We explored the one pictured below on the day we visited the Berber village.  They even have a "designated parking lot" for the mules!

4.  Ben Youssef Medrasa....click on link.  Once the largest Islamic school in North Africa and now a historical site with exceptional art & architecture.
