Peru, 2013

Peru, 2013

Peru turned out to be a spiritual trip for us!  Starting in Lima, we were fortunate enough to sightsee with locals (family of close friends), which immediately makes any trip extra special.  I've visited countless churches throughout my travels but my experience with Lima’s were memorable.  The history, the faith, the catacombs… it was extraordinary.  You also have the ocean and the most amazing fresh seafood specifically in the Miraflores area.  We went on to visit Sacred Valley before heading to Machu Picchu and concluded our trip in Cusco.  The itinerary was specifically planned this way to allow us to get acclimated to the altitude.  I guess it worked because we never felt sick.  We also drank plenty of Coca tea which is supposed to help as well.  Every time I look at these photos they truly touch my heart and bring me right back there.

Portugal, Lisbon & Porto 2013

PORTUGAL - Highlights from this trip include... Lisbon, visiting the medieval castles; exploring Alfama, one of the oldest districts in Lisbon; tasting the Portugese cuisine, famous for its seafood, specifically cod aka bacalhou.  Porto, a stay in an 18th century palace overlooking the Douro River; a river cruise through the Douro Valley vineyards; tasting some of the delicious olive oil, wine and port.

Wrapping up the trip we drove to Sintra for a quick stay before heading home.  If you haven't had the opportunity to visit Portugal yet, I highly recommend it.

South Africa (PT.2), Safari - 2011

The word "Safari" derives from the Swahili word for "journey". In the tourist industry, it means a tour to or in the African bush focusing on seeing wild animals.  It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I encourage you to make your way there if you have the opportunity.

South Africa, Cape Town - 2011 (PT. 1)

South Africa, Cape Town - 2011 (PT. 1)

First stop on my South African adventure, Cape Town!  We flew South African Airways and connected through Johannesburg into Cape Town.  After spending a few days in Cape Town, we hopped into our rental car and drove to the Cape Winelands. The drive was roughly 1 hour & we visited Stellenbosch & Franschhoek.  If you visit Cape Town, I highly recommend a trip to the winelands, you won't be disappointed! There is a reason why Africa is on most "Bucket Lists".  Stay tuned for "Part 2" of my South African adventure, "Safari"!

Jackson Hole, Wyoming 2007

Jackson Hole, Wyoming 2007

Jackson Hole, Wyoming.... it's not just a ski destination.  I'm not much of a skier but I've discovered that you shouldn't rule out popular ski destinations during spring & summer.  In my opinion, they are just as beautiful (if not more) during the warmer months.  I visited Jackson Hole during Labor Day weekend 2007 and it truly took my breath away.  I had a basic point and shoot camera on this trip and was able to capture some amazing shots.  It's not hard with that amount of natural beauty surrounding you.
